Physiotherapy

What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a healthcare discipline that aims to assess, diagnose, treat & aids to prevent disease and disability through physical means. Physiotherapists are experts in movement and function who work in partnership with their patients by placing their patients at the centre of their care. They will assist in overcoming movement disorders – which may have been present from birth, acquired through accident or injury, or are the result of aging.

Physiotherapy can help you recover from injury (sports, lifestyle or accidents); reduce pain & stiffness; and increase your mobility. Physiotherapy can also help you prevent further injury by listening to your needs and working with you to plan the most appropriate treatment for your condition. This will include setting goals to suite your lifestyle needs and keep you informed about your treatment progress & prognosis.

As first contact practitioners, a doctor's referral is not necessary to see our Physiotherapist.

Our Physiotherapist will often work as a team with your GP, Specialist, Chiro and/or Massage Therapist to enable the best possible plan and management of your treatment.

Dry Needling

Treatment involves the insertion of solid, filament needle, as is used in the practice of acupuncture, usually in or around Myofascial Trigger Points. Myofascial Trigger Points have been described as a “hyper-irritable spot within a skeletal muscle”. Myofascial Trigger Points are points in muscles which are painful when pushed. Trigger points can refer pain and create dysfunction elsewhere in the body.
